Healthy Connections is a vital OCHS service that offers free and confidential outreach and advice to patients on accessing affordable health insurance. Staff are able to explain the variety of publicly funded insurance programs and supportive social services. Healthy Connections staff work with state agencies and human services agencies at all three OCHS Health Centers and the OCHS Womenís Infantís and Children (WIC)office in Orleans. Staff can help patients file an application for one of the state subsidized health insurance programs like MassHealth and Commonwealth Care, Healthy Start and Childrenís Medical Security Plan. We can also assist with applications to other support services like the SNAP program, formerly food stamps, the WIC program. Healthy Connections acts as a resource for access to local food pantries, fuel assistance and short term financial assistance.
