Nothing is more important than the health and well-being of our families, friends, and neighbors. Outer Cape Health recognizes that we live in a special community where people care about and depend on one another. Quality healthcare for all is a critical part of that caring.
As an OCHS patient, you can benefit from our comprehensive and affordable healthcare including primary, preventive, and urgent care services. We welcome new patients to our two sites in Provincetown and Wellfleet. Our physicians, along with all our staff, are committed to providing quality, accessible community healthcare.
Here are some valuable guidelines for OCHS patients:
- Register as a patient. If you live, work or vacation in our communities, registering as an Outer Cape Health patient will ensure that we can provide you with the quality care you need. As a registered patient, our on-call physician will be available to help you 24 hours a day. If you are not registered, our on-call physician cannot provide care.
- In case of emergency, always dial “911”. In an urgent situation, such as a laceration, call one of our health centers and we will quickly guide you to the most appropriate care.
- Medical records. Help us treat you well and remember to bring any medical information, records or current medication with you when you visit us.
- Caring communication. We are committed to informative and concerned communication with our patients. We recognize our patients as people, not cases. Let us know if there is something you don’t understand, and we’ll take the time to listen and explain. We are happy to assist with inter-preters, just let us know in advance so we can make your visit as easy as possible.
- Financial assistance. If you cannot pay or are underinsured, you will still receive the care you require. Our Patients’ Benefits specialists can help you find the help you need. For eligible patients, medical services are available at reduced or no cost through grants and free-care programs such as MassHealth. In order to receive financial help, please apply for assistance at the time of registration.
- Payment options. Being a not-for-profit community health center we do, of course, appreciate payment when care is received. We accept most major insurance plans and participate in a number of managed care plans. However, no single plan is likely to cover all the services we offer. We suggest that you confirm with your insurer that you will be covered for a specific service before seeking treatment. OCHS can estimate the cost of services, but the actual cost will vary based on the specifics of your visit.
