Outer Cape Health Services (OCHS) announced today that it passed a recent state Department of Public Health (DPH) survey with no deficiencies, indicating substantial compliance with stringent state licensure requirements. The three-day visit by DPH encompassed site visits at OCHS’ Provincetown and Wellfleet health clinics followed by a desk audit of its Harwich clinic.
“This deficiency-free result from the state’s rigorous examination process validates the close attention that OCHS providers and staff place on patient safety every day,” according to Alexis Keeler, OCHS Director of Quality and Compliance. “Each facility was thoroughly surveyed and rated on core criteria including quality care, safety, administration, and patient rights.”
The unannounced inspections by a seasoned DPH inspector included an exhaustive review of patients’ clinical records, and interviews with patients, family members, and staff members.
“The OCHS staff works above and beyond to expertly deliver care and services on behalf of all of our 17,000 patients and families,” added Pat Nadle, CEO of Outer Cape Health Services. “While we know the care is outstanding and meets or exceeds industry standards, it is always encouraging to have it independently confirmed with high marks from reviewers.”
This honor is the most recent in a series of outstanding accomplishments by Outer Cape Health Services, including a highly successful evaluation of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program OCHS has overseen for 25 years. According to Cynthia LeVangie, OCHS’ WIC Director/Senior Nutritionist, the program recently scored 99% in Operations and 100% in Nutrition from WIC program state inspectors.
The OCHS WIC program is recognized statewide for best practices in providing nutrition and health education, healthy food, breastfeeding support and other services free of charge. As one of more than 30 programs in the commonwealth, OCHS WIC sees qualifying families and children from the Lower and Outer Cape year-round at locations in Orleans, Harwich and Provincetown.
