Outer Cape Health Services is pleased to announce that world-class cellist Amit Peled and his Mount Vernon Virtuosi will perform at Play it Forward: The Bernard Greenhouse Concert on Wednesday, June 12 at the First Congregational Church of Wellfleet, located at 200 Main Street.
The Play it Forward community concert benefits the rebuilding and expansion of the OCHS Wellfleet Health Center, slated to open in June 2019. This year’s concert caps off the concert series founded by Bernard Greenhouse, an internationally acclaimed cellist and founding member of the Beaux Arts Trio who died in 2011 at the age of 95. The Play it Forward annual concert was the brainchild of Mr. Greenhouse, a Wellfleet resident and OCHS supporter and patient.
This mid-week concert program will feature Johann Sebastian Bach: Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G Major; Bela Bartok: Romanian Folk Dances; Joachim Stutchewsky: Hassidic Suite, and Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky: Serenade for String Orchestra. An intermission update will discuss the opening of the reconstructed and expanded OCHS Wellfleet Health Center. Special OCHS “Supporter” tickets are available from $100 and include premium seating.
The Mount Vernon Virtuosi, a new chamber orchestra established by Peled, a John Hopkins Peabody Conservatory cello faculty artist, is dedicated to nurturing and training recently graduated music students. The Virtuosi investigates and recreates cohesive programs of classical concerts from the 19th century. The Greenhouse program will feature separate movements of pieces, solo playing, verbal engagement with the audience, poetry and more.
