The Outer Cape Health Services Radiology Department provides digital X-ray, bone density and mammography screening at our Provincetown location. We employ highly trained radiologic technologists who do exams on state-of-the-art equipment. Patient exams are interpreted by radiologists at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Results are interfaced directly into the OCHS electronic medical record which reduces turnaround time and ensures prompt care and follow up communication to patients. Results can be sent to specialists at other medical facilities upon request.
To schedule a screening mammography or bone density exam at OCHS, please call our Radiology Department at 774-538-3314. OCHS also accepts radiology orders from outside providers who have appropriate credentials. You can reach us at the same number with any questions about screening, scheduling or how to get an order for services.
ABCs of Breast Cancer Early Detection
The American Cancer Society recommends these screening guidelines for most adults:
A–Annual Mammograms: Start at age 40 and continue as long as a woman is in good health.
B–Breast Awareness: Women should know how their breasts normally look and feel and report any breast change promptly to their health care provider. Breast self-exam (BSE) is an option for women starting in their 20s.
C–Clinical Breast Exam: Have one every year by your doctor if you are 40 or older; every 3 years in your 20s and 30s.
Through an arrangement with the Obstetrical Department at Cape Cod Hospital, pregnant women in the eight outermost towns of Cape Cod can now receive comprehensive prenatal care closer to home. Routine care is provided by qualified prenatal care staff at all three OCHS sites, and all births are managed by the midwives and obstetricians, an admitting physician at Cape Cod Hospital. High-risk consultative services are available through Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
OCHS Prenatal Care significantly improves local women’s access to providers. In the past, women of the Outer Cape have had to drive up to 100 miles, round trip, for routine care. OCHS prenatal care services increases the early and educative care that is crucial to a healthy pregnancy.
The on-site OCHS Prenatal Care Team includes Certified Nurse Midwife and Prenatal Care Program Coordinator Meredith Goff, MS,CNM, William Agel, MD, Chief of Obstetrics at Cape Cod Hospital, and Benjamin Hama, MD, Perinatologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. This group of highly-skilled maternal health experts offers seamless prenatal through post-partum care for mothers and pediatric care for newborns.

“I have only positive things to say about my experience with the Outer Cape Health Services pre-natal program. Everyone that helped in our care treated us as family. Having Meredith Goff as my midwife was a wonderful experience, one that I wish for every mom!
This was our first baby and we had many questions and concerns. We were never rushed at appointments and Meredith was happy to answer any questions we had. She made us feel confident at becoming new parents. I could not have asked for a better midwife. Meredith is knowledgeable, caring, respectful and patient. We feel blessed to live in this community and we look forward to continuing our care at Outer Cape as our family grows!”
