The Outer Cape Health Services Radiology Department provides digital X-ray, bone density and mammography screening at our Provincetown location. We employ highly trained radiologic technologists who do exams on state-of-the-art equipment. Patient exams are interpreted by radiologists at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Results are interfaced directly into the OCHS electronic medical record which reduces turnaround time and ensures prompt care and follow up communication to patients. Results can be sent to specialists at other medical facilities upon request.
To schedule a screening mammography or bone density exam at OCHS, please call our Radiology Department at 774-538-3314. OCHS also accepts radiology orders from outside providers who have appropriate credentials. You can reach us at the same number with any questions about screening, scheduling or how to get an order for services.
ABCs of Breast Cancer Early Detection
The American Cancer Society recommends these screening guidelines for most adults:
A–Annual Mammograms: Start at age 40 and continue as long as a woman is in good health.
B–Breast Awareness: Women should know how their breasts normally look and feel and report any breast change promptly to their health care provider. Breast self-exam (BSE) is an option for women starting in their 20s.
C–Clinical Breast Exam: Have one every year by your doctor if you are 40 or older; every 3 years in your 20s and 30s.
OCHS has been committed to comprehensive and quality HIV care since the beginning of the epidemic. Our program provides HIV care in all sites. We provide quality primary medical care, psychiatric care and financial counseling and support. We work closely with the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod, Cape Cod Healthcare Infectious Disease Services and the Infectious Disease Team at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
